Project Overview
The Trade Wind automation system was built as a connected publishing and distribution operation rather than a single isolated workflow. Multiple automations work together to process articles, prepare SEO, generate newsletters, create short-form videos, and distribute published content across social channels.
The Challenge
Running a digital publication requires the same story to move through several repetitive stages after it is sourced or drafted. Articles need editorial processing, SEO preparation, publishing, newsletter distribution, social promotion, and in some cases video production. Handling each stage manually creates duplicated work and makes consistent publishing harder to maintain.
The Automation System
The solution connects WordPress, OpenAI, Make, Brevo, Pictory, and social publishing workflows into one integrated system. Each workflow has a focused role while passing the required content and media into the next stage.
Article Processing and SEO
A dedicated publishing workflow handles WordPress content processing, AI-assisted rewriting and enrichment, structured content preparation, SEO-related fields, and final WordPress updates. This reduces the repetitive editorial work required before an article is ready for publication.
Automated Video Production
Published content can move into a separate video workflow using OpenAI and the Pictory API. The automation creates the video project, waits for rendering, checks completion status, downloads the finished MP4, and uploads the media back to WordPress for use on the site and social channels.
Social Media Distribution
A separate distribution workflow receives published content through a webhook, prepares channel-ready social copy and media, and routes the result to supported social platforms. This turns a published article into reusable social content without rebuilding the post manually for every network.
Newsletter Automation
The newsletter workflow collects relevant WordPress stories, prepares a concise AI-generated briefing, and sends the structured content into Brevo for campaign creation and delivery. The resulting newsletter gives subscribers a readable summary with links back to the publication.
Connected Outputs
The system is designed around real publishing outputs rather than automation for its own sake. The workflows produce optimized WordPress articles, branded short-form videos, social posts with captions and links, and recurring newsletter briefings. Each part supports the same publishing operation while remaining modular enough to maintain independently.
Technical Stack
WordPress serves as the publishing hub, Make coordinates the automation workflows, OpenAI supports content transformation and generation, Pictory handles automated video rendering, and Brevo powers newsletter delivery. API and webhook connections link the workflows together where required.
Outcome
The finished system gives The Trade Wind a multi-workflow publishing infrastructure that reduces repetitive production work and connects content creation with distribution. Article processing, SEO preparation, video generation, newsletter production, and social publishing operate as coordinated parts of one system instead of separate manual tasks.
